The first Racketlon pioneer was, without knowing it, Fred Perry. 1929 he was table tennis world champion and from 1934-1936 he won Wimbledon in tennis; a combination which would be unimaginable today.

The beginning of the current movement is in Scandinavia, where four Racketlon player met in the 80’s to organise a racket competition. Each parti-cipant represented one sport of table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis. It was a fantastic tournament and the community grew until the first Finnish championship in 1986.

At the same time also in Sweden a Racketlon scene was developing and organising tournaments. Because the counting system of each sport was overtaken complicated calculation at the end of the match where needed. When they discovered, that Finland organised similar tournaments, their counting system with sets to 21 in each sport was adapted. Further parallel developments in different north regions of Europe leaded to the first international Racketlon tournament which was hole in 2001 in Gothenburg. In 2002 the foundation of the international Racketlon federation FIR was following and an own world tour was following. Four Superworld-, eight Worldtournaments and a series of challenger events are part of this tour. The tournament mainly take place in Europe but the sport also get more popular in North America, South East Asia and Southafrica.

Swiss Racketlon Pioneer is Nico Hobi, who organised in 2007 in Schlieren the first Racketlon tournament in Switzerland. With over 180 participants it’s in a new country the most successful premiere tournament world wide. Aleaday soon after this tournament the foundation of the Swiss Racketlon Federation (SRF) by Karim Hanna was following. Since 2008, the SRF organises a night tour with the aim to make Racketlon more known Switzerland. Racketlon should be established as alternative to the four racket sports in Switzerland.
